Smart TVs usually add new apps wherever the platform wants, which means the apps you use every day can end up buried after apps you never open. Rearranging the home screen makes the remote feel much faster.
These steps cover Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Roku TV, and Amazon Fire TV. The move command is different on each platform, but the idea is the same: highlight the app, open move mode, place it, and confirm.
Does this affect you?
Use this if you want Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Disney+, Prime Video, games, or other favorites near the front of the TV’s app row. Reordering apps does not delete them or sign you out.
Move apps on Samsung and LG TVs
Samsung and LG usually use a press-and-hold style move action.
- Samsung: From the Home screen, highlight the app, press and hold Select/OK until the icon becomes movable, use the direction pad to place it, then press Select/OK again.
- LG webOS: Highlight the app icon, press and hold OK until it activates for editing, move it with the arrow buttons, then press OK to confirm.
Other apps shift automatically to make room. If your software version shows an edit or pencil icon instead, choose that first and then move the app.
Move channels on Roku
- Press Home on the Roku remote.
- Highlight the channel tile you want to move.
- Press the Star button.
- Choose Move channel.
- Use the direction pad to place it where you want.
- Press OK to drop it.
Roku saves the new order immediately.
Move apps on Fire TV
- From the Fire TV home screen, highlight the app.
- Press and hold Select until the app lifts or a small toolbar appears.
- Choose Move.
- Use the direction pad to reposition the app.
- Press Select to confirm.
Newly installed apps usually appear after existing ones, so move favorites right after installing them if you want them easy to find.
Organize the row intentionally
Group similar apps together, such as live TV, movies, sports, music, and games. That makes scanning easier with a left/right remote interface.
Some newer TVs include a pinned apps, favorites, or manage home screen area separate from the full app list. If moving the entire row feels too much, check Settings for Manage Home Screen, Edit Favorites, or a similar option.
