You can show Android content on a TV by casting from a supported app, mirroring the whole screen, or using a USB-C to HDMI cable. The best option depends on your TV, streaming device, Wi-Fi, and what you want to display.
These steps apply to Samsung, Pixel, Motorola, and similar Android phones casting to smart TVs, Chromecast, Google TV, and HDMI-equipped TVs.

Cast from an App
- Connect the phone and TV or Chromecast to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open an app that supports casting, such as YouTube, Netflix, Google Photos, or another streaming app.
- Tap the Cast icon, usually a rectangle with wireless lines.
- Choose your TV, Chromecast, or Google TV device.
- Use the phone as the remote while playback continues on the TV.
App casting is usually smoothest for streaming because the TV or streaming device handles playback instead of mirroring every pixel from the phone.
Mirror the Whole Screen
- Make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Swipe down twice to open Quick Settings.
- Tap Cast screen. On Samsung, use Smart View.
- If the tile is missing, edit Quick Settings and add it.
- Select the TV from the list.
- Disconnect from the same Quick Settings tile when finished.
Screen mirroring shows everything, including notifications, so turn on Do Not Disturb or hide sensitive content before presenting. It can also use more battery and lag more than app casting.
Use a USB-C to HDMI Cable
- Check whether your phone supports USB-C video output. Some budget phones do not.
- Connect a USB-C to HDMI cable or adapter to the phone.
- Plug HDMI into the TV.
- Switch the TV input to that HDMI port.
- Use the phone normally while the screen appears on the TV.
A cable is the most reliable option when Wi-Fi is weak or the TV does not support wireless casting.
Troubleshooting Tips
Use the Same Network
Guest Wi-Fi often isolates devices so the phone cannot see the TV. Put both devices on the same main network.
Samsung Uses Smart View
Galaxy phones use Smart View for screen mirroring and work especially well with Samsung TVs, while Pixel and Motorola phones usually use the Cast tile.
Pick the Right Method
Use app casting for video, screen mirroring for presentations or unsupported apps, and HDMI when wireless casting is unreliable.
