A disabled Facebook account usually means Meta flagged the account for identity, policy, or suspicious-activity reasons. The main recovery path is a disabled-account appeal through the screen Facebook shows or Meta’s help form.
Does this affect you?
Use this for personal Facebook accounts in the app or at facebook.com when login shows a disabled-account message instead of the feed. Pages and business assets have related but separate appeal paths.
Appeal from the disabled-account screen
Use this when Facebook still shows a review option.
- Try signing in through the Facebook app or facebook.com.
- Read the disabled-account message and any reason shown, such as Community Standards, impersonation, suspicious activity, or name issues.
- Choose Let us know, Request a Review, or the appeal link shown.
- Upload a government-issued ID if Facebook asks for it, making sure the name matches the account.
- Submit the appeal once. Meta says ID photos are used to confirm identity and removed afterward according to its process.
- Wait for a reply, which commonly takes from a day to about a week.
- Check the email tied to the account, including spam, for the decision.
If you cannot reach the appeal screen
Use Meta’s disabled-account form from a browser.
- Go to facebook.com/help and search for my Facebook account is disabled, or use Meta’s current disabled-account contact form.
- Enter the name, email address, or phone number tied to the account.
- Add a brief explanation if you believe the action was a mistake.
- Attach ID if requested.
- Submit the form and save any confirmation or reference number.
- Watch the recovery email and spam folder for Meta’s response.
More control
Common triggers
Fake-name flags, reported posts or profiles, impersonation reports, rapid friend requests, VPN logins from unfamiliar locations, and third-party automation apps can all trigger disabling or review.
Do not submit repeated appeals
Duplicate appeals and creating a new account while the original is under review can complicate the case. Submit one clear appeal and wait.
Check linked Meta accounts
Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger may share parts of Accounts Center. After recovery, review connected accounts and login methods.
Secure the account after recovery
Review Security and Login, remove unfamiliar Apps and Websites, and turn on two-factor authentication to reduce future suspicious-activity flags.
