A Contact Poster is the full-screen name-and-photo design other iPhone users can see when you call or message them. It is tied to your own contact card, also called My Card, and can use a photo, Memoji, monogram, font, and background style.
Contact Posters require iOS 17 or later to create and to appear for other iPhone users.
Does This Affect You?
Use this if your outgoing calls still show a plain name and number, or if you want to customize the picture and typography people see when you contact them.
Create or Edit Your Contact Poster
- Open the Contacts app.
- Tap My Card at the top, then tap Edit. If My Card does not exist, create your contact entry, then make it your card.
- Tap the large contact photo area.
- Choose Photos, Memoji, or Monogram.
- For a photo, pinch and drag to frame it. For Memoji, choose a character and pose. For Monogram, choose initials and a background.
- Swipe through style, color, and filter options.
- Tap Aa to adjust the name font and color.
- Tap Done, preview the result, then tap Done again to save.
Your poster is now attached to your contact card and can appear when you call or message people who have you saved.
Control Sharing
Open Contacts > My Card > Edit, tap your photo/poster, and review Name & Photo Sharing. You can share automatically with contacts or choose Always Ask so iPhone prompts you before sharing with each person.
More Contact Poster Tips
Create Multiple Posters
From the poster editor, swipe to the add option and design another poster. You can keep several and switch which one is active.
If Others Do Not See It
Name & Photo Sharing may be off, the other person may not have you saved in Contacts, or one of you may not be using iOS 17 or later.
Not a Lock Screen Wallpaper
Your Contact Poster is shown to others during calls and messages. It does not change your own Lock Screen wallpaper.
