Ring and Alexa are both Amazon products, but they still need to be linked manually. The Ring skill is what lets Echo devices see cameras, announce motion, and show live feeds.
These steps apply to Ring doorbells and cameras connected through the Alexa app to Echo, Echo Show, and Fire TV devices.

Use this if you want Alexa to show the front door camera, announce a doorbell press, or run routines from Ring motion events.
Enable the Ring skill
Do this before trying camera commands.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap More.
- Open Skills & Games.
- Search for the official Ring skill.
- Tap Enable to Use.
- Sign in with your Ring account.
- Allow the requested permissions.
- Let Alexa discover your Ring devices.
If the devices do not appear automatically, open the Alexa Devices tab and run Discover Devices manually.
View Ring cameras on Echo Show or Fire TV
Once linked, use the Ring device name in a voice command.
- Say Alexa, show the front door to open that live feed.
- Say Alexa, stop to close the feed.
- On Echo Show, use the camera section on the home screen to browse linked cameras.
- Enable automatic display for doorbell presses in the Ring device settings inside Alexa if your Echo Show supports it.
This works from the screen device nearest you, so you do not need to grab your phone just to see the door.
Create spoken announcements and routines
Alexa can speak when Ring detects motion or someone presses the doorbell.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Go to More > Routines.
- Tap +.
- Under When this happens, choose Device.
- Select the Ring camera or doorbell.
- Choose Motion Detected or Doorbell Pressed.
- Add an Alexa Says action or another supported action.
- Save the routine.
Name Ring cameras clearly in the Ring app first, such as Front Door or Backyard, so Alexa commands and routines stay unambiguous.
If the link breaks, disable and re-enable the Ring skill, then sign in again. Live view and announcements do not require Ring Protect, but recorded video history and playback do.
