A yellow light ring on an Echo usually means Alexa has a notification waiting. It is not a Wi-Fi warning or a hardware problem.
These steps apply to Echo Dot, Echo, Echo Show, and other Echo devices with a light ring or screen indicator.

Check the notification and clear the ring
The fastest way to clear yellow is to review the waiting notification.
- Say Alexa, what did I miss?
- Or say Alexa, what are my notifications?
- On an Echo Show, tap the notification or swipe down from the top to review it.
- Open the Alexa app on your phone.
- Tap the bell notification icon.
- Review package alerts, missed Alexa calls, messages, or household notifications.
- Dismiss or listen to the notification and wait a few seconds for the ring to clear.
Once the notification has been heard or dismissed, the yellow ring should disappear on its own.
Turn off notifications you don’t want to see
If the yellow ring keeps returning, disable the specific category that annoys you.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap More > Settings > Notifications.
- Review Amazon Shopping, Communications, skills, and other sources.
- Open a category you do not want.
- Turn off the notification type.
- Repeat for other sources you do not need.
For example, turning off package alerts stops Alexa from lighting yellow for every shipping or delivery update.
Do not confuse yellow with other Echo lights
Yellow means a message or notification is waiting. Green usually means a call or Drop In. Red means the microphone is muted. Blue means Alexa is listening or processing. Purple often points to Do Not Disturb or a setup-related state.
If Do Not Disturb is on, say Alexa, turn off Do Not Disturb, or check the device settings in the Alexa app.
