Adobe Account Locked or Can’t Log In? Here’s the Fix

Adobe account lockouts are usually temporary, especially after too many failed sign-in attempts. The more difficult case is losing access to the email address Adobe uses to verify the account.

Does this affect you?

Use this for individual Adobe accounts used with Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Acrobat, Lightroom, Adobe.com, and Adobe apps on Windows or Mac.

Fix a temporary lockout after failed sign-in attempts

Start here if you were locked after entering the wrong password too many times.

  1. Wait about an hour for the temporary lock to clear, or use the password reset option immediately.
  2. Open the Adobe sign-in page and choose Forgot password.
  3. Enter the email address on the Adobe account.
  4. Check your inbox and spam folder for Adobe’s reset email or temporary-password message.
  5. Set a new password carefully. Adobe passwords are case-sensitive, so capitalization matters.
  6. If two-step verification is enabled, enter the code from your authenticator app, phone, or backup method.

You lost access to the recovery email

Adobe’s normal reset flow depends on the registered email.

  1. Try to recover the email account first through Gmail, Outlook, your work IT department, or whichever provider hosted it.
  2. If the email is gone permanently, create a new Adobe account with an address you control.
  3. Contact Adobe Support directly and explain that the old email is unavailable but a subscription or purchase belongs to you.
  4. Be ready to verify ownership with billing details, card information, order history, or other account evidence.
  5. Ask support about moving the subscription to the new account once ownership is confirmed.

More control

Turn on two-step verification

After you regain access, open Account > Sign-in and security and enable two-step verification. Save backup codes somewhere safe so losing your phone does not create another lockout.

Avoid work-email traps

If your Adobe account uses a work or school email you may lose later, switch it to a personal address you will keep before leaving that organization.

Managed accounts may need an admin

If your account belongs to an Adobe Teams or Enterprise plan, your company’s Adobe admin or IT department may need to unlock or reassign access instead of standard consumer support.
