Wyze cameras only connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If setup stalls, the camera flashes yellow or blue, or the app times out after the QR code step, the problem is usually the network band, the QR scan, or a router setting.
These steps apply to Wyze Cam v3, v4, Pan, Pan v3, Wyze Cam OG, and similar models using the Wyze app on iPhone or Android.
Does this affect you?
Use this if you are setting up a new camera or reconnecting one after changing routers, Wi-Fi names, or passwords. A camera that cannot see 5 GHz Wi-Fi will fail even if your phone uses that network perfectly.
Confirm you are using a 2.4 GHz network
- Open your router app or admin page.
- Check whether 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz share one combined network name.
- Temporarily split the bands or disable band steering if setup keeps failing.
- Connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz network before opening Wyze.
- In the Wyze app, tap the plus button and choose the correct camera model.
- When asked for Wi-Fi, select the 2.4 GHz network and enter the password exactly.
After setup succeeds, some routers can go back to combined band names. During pairing, however, a separate 2.4 GHz name removes a lot of confusion.
Redo the QR code pairing step carefully
- Delete the failed or offline camera from the Wyze app if it appears there.
- Unplug the camera for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
- Wait for the status light to return to solid yellow.
- Start setup again.
- Hold the phone about 6 to 8 inches from the camera lens.
- Raise screen brightness and keep the QR code steady until the camera beeps or speaks.
- If nothing happens after 15 to 20 seconds, back out and retry with better lighting.
Factory reset the camera
- Find the reset button or pinhole on the camera.
- Press and hold it for about 10 seconds, or up to 20 seconds on some Pan models.
- Wait for the voice prompt or status light change.
- Let the camera return to solid yellow.
- Run setup again, starting with the 2.4 GHz network check.
If your router uses MAC address filtering, add the camera’s MAC address or temporarily disable filtering. Guest networks with isolation can also block setup or later app access.
Move the camera near the router for initial pairing, especially if its final location is more than 15 to 20 feet away through walls. Once it connects and updates, move it back and confirm signal is still stable.
Update the Wyze app from the App Store or Google Play before deeper troubleshooting. If the light never changes after reset or the camera refuses every setup attempt, contact Wyze support with the model and order information in case the unit is defective.
