Google Assistant Broadcast sends a spoken message to Google Home and Nest speakers or displays in your home. It is the Google version of a house-wide announcement.
These steps apply to Google Home, Nest Hub, Nest Audio, and related speakers linked in the Google Home app.

Use this if you want to call everyone to dinner, announce bedtime, or send a short message to the whole house without walking to each room.
Broadcast by voice
- Say Hey Google, broadcast [your message].
- For example, say Hey Google, broadcast dinner’s ready.
- Wait while Assistant sends the message.
- Every linked Google Assistant speaker and display plays it aloud.
- To target one room, say Hey Google, tell the kitchen speaker [message].
There is no extra confirmation. The broadcast sends when you finish speaking, so keep the message simple and clear.
Create a scheduled broadcast
Use a routine or household automation for repeating announcements such as wake-up, bedtime, or leaving reminders.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap +.
- Create a new routine or automation.
- Add a schedule starter with the time and days.
- Under Actions, choose an Assistant speaking action.
- Type the message.
- Choose the speakers that should play it.
- Save the routine or automation.
Google’s older Family Bell preset has been reduced during the Assistant-to-Gemini transition in some places, so a scheduled automation is the safer replacement.
Replies, volume, and missing speakers
Broadcast is one-way per message, not a live conversation. Someone can reply by sending another broadcast from any speaker.
Devices need to be linked to the same Google home/account and be online. If one speaker misses broadcasts, check it in the Google Home device list and confirm it has not dropped off Wi-Fi.
Broadcasts play at each device’s current media volume. There is no separate broadcast-only volume, so adjust the speaker’s normal volume if announcements are too loud or too quiet.
