A Google Home speaker group plays the same audio across several speakers or displays in sync. You create the group once, then use the group name by voice or cast target.
These steps apply to Google Home, Nest Audio, Nest Mini, and Nest Hub devices set up in the Google Home app.

Use this if you want music in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom at the same time without starting playback separately on each speaker.
Create a speaker group
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap the + icon.
- Choose Create speaker group.
- Select every speaker or display you want included.
- Mix models if you want, such as Nest Audio and Nest Mini.
- Give the group a simple spoken name such as Downstairs or Whole House.
- Tap Save.
The group now appears beside individual speakers as a playback destination.
Play audio to the group
- Say Hey Google, play [song or station] on [group name].
- For example, say Hey Google, play jazz on Downstairs.
- From Spotify, YouTube Music, or another supported app, tap the cast icon and choose the speaker group.
- To move current playback, say Hey Google, move the music to [group name].
Google keeps the speakers synchronized so audio should not echo noticeably as you move between rooms.
Edit or remove a group
- Open Google Home.
- Find and tap the speaker group.
- Tap the settings gear or three-dot menu.
- Choose Speaker group settings.
- Tap Edit devices to add or remove speakers.
- Choose Remove speaker group if you want to delete the group.
Deleting a group does not remove the individual speakers from your home.
Useful group details
Each speaker can keep its own volume level inside a group, so adjust a loud kitchen speaker or quiet bedroom speaker individually. Chromecast built-in TVs may also be able to join a speaker group.
You can assign a speaker group as a room’s default output in room settings. Routines may still need to be edited to target the new group by exact name; they do not always switch automatically.
