Alexa multi-room music lets two or more Echo devices play the same audio in sync. It is useful for whole-home music without buying extra hub hardware.
These steps apply to Amazon Echo and Echo-compatible speakers set up in the Alexa app on iPhone or Android.

Use this if you want one command such as Alexa, play music everywhere to start the same song across several rooms. This is different from a stereo pair, which uses two matching speakers as left and right channels in one room.
Create a multi-room music group
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap Devices.
- Tap the + icon.
- Choose Add Group.
- Tap Multi-Room Music.
- Give the group a spoken-friendly name such as Everywhere or Downstairs.
- Select every Echo device you want included.
- Tap Save.
You can create more than one group, such as Downstairs for kitchen and living room speakers and Everywhere for the whole home.
Play music to the group
- Say Alexa, play [song or playlist] on [group name].
- Use Alexa, play my daily mix on Downstairs for a typical command.
- Open the Alexa app and use group playback controls if you do not want voice control.
- Say Alexa, stop to stop the current playback.
- Say Alexa, stop music everywhere if multiple rooms are playing.
Each speaker in the group should stay synchronized so music does not echo as you walk between rooms.
Fix group playback problems
Dropouts and delays are usually Wi-Fi issues on one speaker rather than a broken group. Check the problem Echo’s Wi-Fi signal in device settings and move it closer to the router or a mesh access point if needed.
You can still address a single Echo by name or room, such as Alexa, play jazz in the kitchen. Not every streaming service supports multi-room playback the same way, so check the music service set under Alexa music settings if a song works on one speaker but not on a group.
To edit or remove the group, go to Devices > Groups, open the group, and use the pencil or settings icon to add speakers, remove speakers, rename, or delete it.
