A stereo pair turns two compatible Echo devices into one left-and-right speaker set. It is meant for two matching Echo units in the same room, not for speakers scattered around the house.
These steps apply to two Echo devices of the same model configured through the Alexa app on iPhone or Android.

Use this if you have two identical Echo devices and want fuller stereo music. This is different from multi-room music, which plays the same audio in multiple rooms without left and right separation.
Create the stereo pair
- Set up both Echo devices individually first.
- Put both devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap Devices.
- Tap the + icon.
- Choose Combine Speakers.
- Tap Stereo Pair.
- Select the two matching Echo devices.
- Choose which unit is left and which is right.
- Name the pair, such as Living Room Stereo.
- Tap Continue to finish.
Once paired, the two speakers appear as one playback target. A music request to the pair plays through both speakers with stereo separation.
Adjust left and right channels
If the stereo image sounds backwards, swap the channel assignment.
- Open the Alexa app.
- Tap Devices.
- Select the paired stereo group.
- Open the settings gear.
- Look for Left/Right Channel or Speaker Balance.
- Swap the channels if needed.
- Test with a song that has obvious left and right separation.
If your app version does not show a swap control, unpair the speakers and create the pair again with the left and right choices reversed.
Fix common pairing problems
- If devices are not eligible, confirm they are the same model and generation, not just visually similar.
- If the combine option is missing, update the Alexa app and check that both Echo devices are online.
- If pairing fails, confirm both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- If one speaker drops out, check that unit’s signal strength and move it closer to the router if needed.
- To undo the setup, open the stereo group settings and choose Unpair or Separate Speakers.
Unpairing does not erase routines, skills, or the rest of each device’s settings. If you own a compatible Echo Sub, you may be able to create a home theater-style setup from the same Combine Speakers area. While paired, both Echo microphones still listen, and routines should target the paired group’s name rather than the individual speakers.
