A Samsung TV that shuts off mid-show is often following a power-saving setting, sleep timer, HDMI-CEC command, or unstable power connection. The pattern matters: timed shutoffs point to settings, while random shutoffs point more toward power or heat.
These steps apply to Samsung Smart TVs running Tizen, including Crystal UHD, QLED, and Neo QLED models.

Turn off Eco Solution and sleep timer
- Open Settings > General > Eco Solution on older models, or Settings > General & Privacy > Power and Energy Saving on newer models.
- Turn off Auto Power Off or Auto Power Off After No Signal.
- Turn off Motion Lighting if present.
- Check Sleep Timer under Settings > General > System Manager > Time or the main settings area.
- Set Sleep Timer to Off.
If the TV shuts off after the same duration, this group of settings is the most likely cause.
Check Anynet+ HDMI-CEC
- Go to Settings > General > External Device Manager > Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).
- Turn Anynet+ off temporarily.
- Watch normally for a day or two.
- If shutoffs stop, check the soundbar, receiver, console, or streaming box for its own CEC or auto-power setting.
A connected device can send a power-off signal through HDMI. Anynet+ may be working as designed, just responding to the wrong device.
Check power and heat
- Plug the TV directly into a wall outlet instead of a power strip.
- Confirm the power cable is fully seated.
- Try a different outlet, ideally on another circuit.
- Feel for unusual heat near the back power area after the TV has been running.
- Give the TV open airflow around rear and top vents.
Random shutoffs are more suspicious for power or overheating than for a timer.
Update and run diagnostics
Go to Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now. Samsung has patched unexpected shutoff behavior on some model years through firmware.
Also check Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis for health checks. If settings, CEC, outlet, cable, updates, and airflow are ruled out, the power supply or internal board may need service.
