When Samsung TV apps hang on a logo, bounce to the home screen, or never open, the cause is usually software: a stuck Smart Hub process, corrupted app data, outdated firmware, weak Wi-Fi, or full storage.
These steps apply to Samsung Smart TVs using Smart Hub and the Tizen operating system.
Does this affect you?
Use this if Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Prime Video, or another Samsung TV app will not load while the TV itself still works.
Power-cycle the TV
- Turn the TV off.
- Unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in.
- Turn it on using the TV’s own power button if available.
- Open the problem app and wait 15 to 20 seconds.
A full unplug restart clears more background Smart Hub memory than simply closing the app.
Delete and reinstall the app
- Highlight the problem app on the home screen.
- Open options with the Down arrow, three-dot menu, or app options button.
- Choose Delete.
- Open Apps or the Samsung App Store.
- Search for the same app and reinstall it.
- Sign back in.
This fixes many cases where one app fails while others still work.
Reset Smart Hub
Use this deeper reset when multiple apps are broken or the app store itself behaves badly.
- Go to Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis.
- Select Reset Smart Hub.
- Enter the PIN if prompted. The default is often 0000 unless changed.
- Confirm and let the TV restart.
- Sign back into streaming apps afterward.
Reset Smart Hub clears app data and account sign-ins but does not reset picture settings like a full factory reset would.
Check network, updates, and storage
Run Settings > General > Network > Network Status and use any built-in speed or connection test. Weak Wi-Fi can make apps hang even when the TV says connected.
Update from Settings > Support > Software Update > Update Now. Samsung often fixes Smart Hub and app-store stability through firmware. On older models, delete unused apps if internal storage is full, because low app storage can prevent loading and updates.
