Roku Wi-Fi problems can show as cannot connect, dropped connection, weak signal, or a missing network. Streaming sticks are especially sensitive because their antennas sit behind the TV, often in a poor signal spot.
These steps apply to Roku devices, Roku sticks, and Roku TVs from TCL, Hisense, and other brands.

Use this if Roku cannot connect to the internet, drops Wi-Fi mid-show, or cannot find your network.
Restart Roku and router
- On Roku, go to Settings > System > System Restart and select Restart.
- If Roku is unresponsive, unplug it from power.
- Unplug the router from power.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Plug the router back in and wait for lights to settle.
- Turn Roku back on and try connecting again.
Restarting both matters because either side may be holding a stale connection.
Improve signal strength
- Go to Settings > Network > Check connection.
- Check the signal rating.
- If using a Roku stick behind the TV, move it away from the TV with a short HDMI extender.
- Move the router to a more central, open location if possible.
- Use a mesh node, extender, or Ethernet if the Roku model supports wired networking.
Roku may provide a free HDMI extender request for some sticks, and any suitable short HDMI extension cable can help with placement.
Reconnect from scratch
- Go to Settings > Network > Set up connection > Wireless.
- Choose your network or scan again.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password carefully, including capitalization and symbols.
- If the network is missing, confirm the router broadcasts 2.4GHz.
- Complete setup and run the connection test.
If you recently changed the router password, Roku will keep failing with the old saved password until you reconnect manually.
Check interference and updates
Microwaves, cordless phones, baby monitors, Bluetooth devices, and crowded 2.4GHz networks can cause drops. If disconnects happen at specific times, interference is likely.
Update Roku from Settings > System > System Update > Check Now. Also update router firmware from the router admin page, often listed on the router label. Old router firmware can look like a Roku problem.
