LG TV flicker can appear as flashing, brief blackouts, static, color flashes, or dimming pulses. The cause is often an automatic picture setting, HDMI issue, software bug, or, less commonly, panel hardware.
Start with settings, then cables, then updates. The pattern matters: one HDMI input points to a device or cable, while every input including the home screen points more toward the TV.

Use this if an LG OLED, NanoCell, QNED, or other webOS TV flickers while watching content, switching inputs, or using apps.
Turn off automatic picture features
- Open Settings > All Settings > General > Eco or Energy Saving.
- Turn Energy Saving and Auto Power Off off while testing.
- Open Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode Settings.
- Turn TruMotion off, or set it to Off/User with smoothing disabled.
- Replay the content that flickered.
Automatic brightness and motion processing can cause intermittent flicker, especially with changing room light or variable-frame-rate content.
Check HDMI cable and source device
- Unplug the HDMI cable from the TV and connected device.
- Reconnect it firmly at both ends.
- Try a different HDMI cable.
- Move the same device to another HDMI port.
- Check the connected device for firmware updates.
If flicker follows the cable or device to another port, the TV panel is probably not the issue. If it appears only on one HDMI port, that input may be failing or misconfigured.
Update the TV software
- Press Home and open Settings > All Settings > General > About This TV.
- Choose Check for Updates.
- Install any update available.
- After the update, unplug the TV for 30 seconds and restart it.
- Test the same content again.
Other flicker patterns
A brief flash when switching inputs, resolutions, or frame rates can be normal while the TV resyncs. If it settles within a second or two, it is usually not a fault.
If local dimming causes pulsing in dark scenes with bright highlights, lower Local Dimming from High to Medium or Low. If flicker appears only at very low or very high brightness, it may relate to LED backlight PWM behavior on that model.
Constant flickering across every input, the home screen, and built-in apps after settings, cables, and updates are ruled out points to a backlight, power, or display panel problem. Contact LG support or a repair technician, especially under warranty.
