LG Smart TVs run webOS, and apps come from the LG Content Store. The store is already built into the TV, so installing a new streaming app usually takes only a minute once you know where to look.
These instructions apply to LG webOS TVs, including many OLED, QNED, UHD, and recent LG smart TV models.
Does this affect you?
Use this guide if you want to add an app to an LG TV, cannot find LG’s app store, or searched for a service that does not appear. The TV must be online, and some apps may require an LG account or a newer webOS version.
Install from the LG Content Store
Use the Content Store when you know which app you want.
- Press Home on the LG remote.
- Scroll across the app row until you find LG Content Store, often shown with a shopping bag icon.
- Open Search, shown as a magnifying glass.
- Type the app name, such as Disney+, Peacock, Hulu, or Max.
- Select the app from the results and choose Install.
- Return to the Home screen when installation finishes. The app appears in the app row.
Open the app and sign in with that service’s account if required.
Browse by category
If you are looking for new apps instead of one specific service, browse the store.
- Open LG Content Store.
- Use categories such as App, Movie, TV Show, Recommended, or similar sections depending on webOS version.
- Select an app tile to view details.
- Choose Install if you want to add it.
Browsing can reveal LG-supported apps you might not think to search for by name.
Sign in and update webOS
Some paid or subscription apps may not appear until the TV is signed in. Open Settings > General > Account, then sign in or create a free LG account.
If the store looks outdated or an expected app is missing, check for system updates. Go to Settings > All Settings > General > About This TV or Software Update, choose Check for Updates, install anything pending, and restart the TV.
If the app is not available
Not every streaming service publishes an LG Content Store app for every region or every model year. Check the provider’s device support page if search comes up empty.
If there is no LG app, use casting, AirPlay, screen mirroring, or an HDMI streaming device as a workaround. A Roku, Fire TV Stick, Chromecast, or Apple TV can add the missing app without replacing the TV.
