Hisense TV Won’t Connect to Wi-Fi? How to Fix It

Hisense Wi-Fi problems usually show up in two ways: the TV cannot see your network at all, or it sees the network but fails after you enter the password. Both VIDAA and Google TV models can run into the same issue.

These steps cover router restarts, TV restarts, 2.4GHz versus 5GHz networks, forgotten saved networks, interference, firmware updates, router limits, and signs of a failed Wi-Fi module.

Does this affect you?

Use this guide if your Hisense TV will not connect to Wi-Fi, times out, says the password is wrong when it is not, or connects only briefly before dropping. If every device in the house is offline, troubleshoot the router or internet service first.

Restart the router and TV

Start by refreshing both sides of the connection.

  1. Unplug the router and modem from power. If they are separate boxes, unplug both.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, then plug them back in.
  3. Give the network two to three minutes to fully return.
  4. Turn off the Hisense TV and unplug it from the wall for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the TV back in and open network settings.

On VIDAA, look under Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi. On Hisense Google TV, use Settings > Network & Internet. Select your Wi-Fi network and try again.

Use 2.4GHz and forget the saved network

Older Hisense TVs can struggle when a router combines 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one network name.

  • Check whether your router broadcasts separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz network names.
  • If it uses one combined name, temporarily split the bands in the router settings.
  • Try connecting the TV to the 2.4GHz network first.
  • If the TV sees the network but fails, choose Forget Network or Remove for that saved entry.
  • Reconnect from scratch and type the password carefully. Wi-Fi passwords are case-sensitive.

If 2.4GHz works and 5GHz does not, leave the TV on 2.4GHz. It is slower on paper, but usually stable enough for streaming and often better for older smart TV Wi-Fi chips.

Improve signal and update firmware

Weak signal can look like a password or router problem because the TV fails during the connection process.

  • Check the Wi-Fi signal indicator in the TV’s network settings.
  • Move the router closer or reduce walls, metal furniture, and electronics between the router and TV.
  • Turn off nearby 2.4GHz interference sources during testing, such as microwaves, baby monitors, and older cordless phones.
  • On VIDAA, check Settings > Support > Software Update.
  • On Google TV, check Settings > System > About > System Update.

Install available updates. TV makers often ship Wi-Fi stability fixes through firmware updates, especially after router compatibility issues appear.

Check router limits and hardware failure

If MAC address filtering is enabled on the router, add the TV’s MAC address from the TV network settings or temporarily disable filtering. Also check whether the router has reached a device limit.

Band steering can also cause trouble. Routers that automatically move devices between 2.4GHz and 5GHz work well for phones and laptops, but some TVs reconnect poorly. Splitting the bands into separate network names is the most reliable test.

If the Hisense TV fails on multiple networks, including a phone hotspot, while other devices connect normally, the TV’s Wi-Fi module may be failing. Most Hisense TVs do not support generic USB Wi-Fi adapters, so Ethernet is the more dependable workaround if your model has a LAN port.
