Hisense TV Keeps Restarting? Fix the Reboot Loop

A Hisense TV that keeps restarting can look serious, but it is often a software or power issue rather than a failed screen. The TV may show the logo, go black, restart, and repeat instead of reaching the home screen.

These steps apply to Hisense smart TVs using VIDAA, Google TV, or Android TV software. Start with a true power cycle, then check for updates, troublesome apps, HDMI devices, heat, and power supply symptoms.

Does this affect you?

Use this guide when the TV restarts on its own, gets stuck in a boot loop, or works briefly before rebooting again. If the TV never shows any logo or standby light, the issue may be power hardware rather than software.

Do a full power cycle

Do not rely on the remote power button. Most TVs enter standby instead of fully shutting down.

  1. Unplug the Hisense TV from the wall outlet.
  2. While it is unplugged, press and hold the physical power button on the TV for about 10 seconds.
  3. Wait a full 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the TV directly back into the wall.
  5. Turn it on and let it sit at the startup screen for at least a minute without pressing remote buttons.

Holding the physical power button helps drain residual power from the TV’s internal components. That can clear a stuck startup process or corrupted temporary cache.

Check for a stuck update or bad app

If the power cycle lets the TV boot, use that window to fix the software cause before the restart returns.

  • On VIDAA models, check Settings > Support > Software Update.
  • On Google TV or Android TV models, check Settings > System > About > System Update.
  • Install any available update and let the TV restart normally.
  • If the loop started after installing one app, uninstall that app from the app menu.
  • If the restart began after connecting a new soundbar, console, or streaming stick, unplug that HDMI device and test the TV alone.

A failing app or HDMI-CEC handshake can force a smart TV into repeated restarts even though the panel and main features are fine.

Test power, heat, and connected devices

Plug the TV directly into a wall outlet instead of a crowded power strip or surge protector. Large devices on the same strip can cause voltage dips that make the TV reboot.

If the TV restarts mainly after it has been running for a while, check ventilation. Make sure vents on the back and bottom are not blocked by furniture, a wall mount, dust, or a tight cabinet. Some TVs reboot to protect themselves when internal temperatures get too high.

Disconnect external devices for a test: HDMI sticks, consoles, USB drives, soundbars, and antennas. If the TV stays on with everything unplugged, reconnect devices one at a time until the restart returns.

Factory reset only after the basics

If the TV stays on long enough to reach settings, try Settings > System > Reset or the reset option for your Hisense platform. A factory reset erases apps, sign-ins, Wi-Fi, and picture settings, so use it after power cycling, updates, and device isolation.

If updates and a factory reset do not stop the loop, the likely cause is hardware: a failing power supply board, main board, or related component. Contact Hisense support for warranty service or repair options, especially if the TV is still covered.
