Crunchyroll problems on a TV usually come from the app, the local connection, or a temporary Crunchyroll outage. If it works on your phone but not the TV, focus on the TV app and streaming device first.
Does this affect you?
Use this for Crunchyroll on Roku, Fire TV, Samsung TV, LG TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Restart the app and streaming device
This fixes many loading-logo, freeze, and crash problems.
- Fully close Crunchyroll instead of only pressing Back. On Roku, press Home, then reopen it. On Fire TV, open the app options and choose Force stop or Stop when available.
- Unplug the streaming device or smart TV from power for about 30 seconds.
- Plug it back in and wait for it to fully start.
- Open Crunchyroll again and sign in if prompted.
Check the internet connection
Crunchyroll needs steady bandwidth, especially around new episode drops.
- Open Settings > Network on the TV or streaming device and check Wi-Fi strength or Ethernet status.
- Pause other heavy activity such as downloads, 4K streams, game updates, cloud backups, and video calls.
- Restart the router by unplugging it for a full minute, then waiting for it to reconnect.
- Try Ethernet if the device supports it and Wi-Fi is weak.
Update or reinstall Crunchyroll
Do this if Crunchyroll works elsewhere but not on the TV device.
- Open the TV or streaming device app store.
- Search for Crunchyroll.
- Install any available update.
- If it is current and still broken, delete the app, restart the device, reinstall Crunchyroll, and log back in.
More control
New episodes can overload servers
If only a fresh simulcast episode fails while older episodes play, wait 30 to 60 minutes and try again.
Check account devices and streams
Crunchyroll plans can limit simultaneous streams. Check Account > Devices on crunchyroll.com and sign out of unused devices.
Clear app cache
On Android TV, Fire TV, and some smart TVs, use Settings > Apps > Crunchyroll > Clear cache to remove temporary files without deleting the account.
