How to Turn Off Address Autofill in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari

Browsers can remember addresses typed into forms and offer to fill them later. That is convenient for checkout forms, but not ideal on a shared computer, public machine, or any device where you do not want home address suggestions appearing.

Use this for Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, and Safari on Windows or Mac when your browser keeps suggesting or filling your address and you want to stop it.

Turn off address autofill in Chrome or Edge

Chrome and Edge use similar autofill controls.

  1. Open the three-dot menu and choose Settings.
  2. In Chrome, choose Autofill and passwords. In Edge, choose Profiles or Passwords and autofill depending on version.
  3. Open Addresses and more.
  4. Turn off Save and fill addresses.
  5. Remove saved addresses from the list with the three-dot menu beside each entry.

Turn off address autofill in Firefox

Firefox stores address autofill under privacy settings.

  1. Open the Firefox menu and choose Settings.
  2. Choose Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to Forms and Autofill or Autofill.
  4. Uncheck Save and fill addresses.
  5. Open Saved addresses and remove entries you no longer want.

Turn off address autofill in Safari

Safari uses your contact card rather than a separate address list. On Mac, open Safari > Settings > AutoFill and uncheck Contact Info. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Apps > Safari > AutoFill and turn off Use Contact Info. This stops Safari from offering your contact address without deleting the contact itself.

Clear leftover site suggestions

Some sites save recent form values in their own data. If suggestions remain after disabling browser autofill, clear cookies and site data for that site.

Check passwords and cards separately

Addresses, passwords, and payment cards each have their own controls. Turning off address autofill does not disable password saving or card autofill.
