How to Clear Cookies in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge cookies keep you signed into websites, remember preferences, and preserve items like carts. Clearing them can fix a site stuck in the wrong account state, a page that will not log out, or old preferences that refuse to change.

Does this affect you?

Use this for the Chromium-based Microsoft Edge on Windows 10, Windows 11, or Mac when you want to remove cookies from one site or all sites. Clearing cookies usually signs you out of affected websites.

Clear all cookies in Edge

This resets cookie state for every site.

  1. Click the three-dot menu in Edge.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Choose Privacy, search, and services.
  4. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  5. Set the time range to All time.
  6. Select only Cookies and other site data if you do not want to clear cache or history.
  7. Click Clear now.

Clear cookies for one site only

Use this when only one site is misbehaving.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose Cookies and site permissions.
  3. Open Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  4. Click See all cookies and site data.
  5. Search for the site name.
  6. Click the trash icon next to that site.

Clear a site cookies from the address bar

This is faster when you are already on the site.

  1. Visit the site.
  2. Click the lock icon beside the address.
  3. Open Permissions for this site.
  4. Click Clear data for this site and confirm.

More control

Clear cookies automatically on close

Open Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Choose what to clear every time you close the browser. Turn on Cookies and other site data if you want Edge to wipe cookies whenever it closes.

Keep selected sites signed in

If automatic clearing is on, add important sites to the allow list under cookie settings so email, banking, or work tools can keep their cookies.

Block third-party cookies

For tracking reduction, turn on Block third-party cookies under Cookies and site data. This blocks many cross-site trackers while still letting most first-party login cookies work.

What stays behind

Clearing cookies does not remove favorites, downloaded files, or passwords saved in Edge password manager. Those are managed separately.
