How to Clear Cookies and Cache on Android

Cookies keep websites signed in and remember preferences. Cache stores page files so sites load faster. On Android, clearing both can fix pages that look broken, show old account state, freeze, or keep forgetting settings.

Does this affect you?

Use this for Chrome on Android phones and tablets. Samsung Internet and apps with built-in browsers store their own data separately, so they may need separate cleanup.

Clear cookies and cache in Chrome for Android

This clears selected data across sites. Choose a shorter range if you only want recent data removed.

  1. Open Chrome on Android.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu.
  3. Tap Delete browsing data.
  4. Choose a time range such as All time or Last 7 days.
  5. Select Cookies and site data and Cached images and files.
  6. Leave Browsing history unchecked if you want to keep your history.
  7. Tap Delete data and confirm if asked.

Clearing cookies signs you out of many websites, so make sure your passwords are saved before doing it.

Clear one site only

If only one site is acting strangely, reset that site instead of wiping everything. Open the site, tap the icon near the address bar, open Permissions or Site settings, then use Clear and reset for that site.

Samsung Internet

On many Galaxy phones, Samsung Internet has its own storage. Open Android Settings > Apps > Samsung Internet > Storage. Clear cache for a lighter cleanup, or Clear data if you also want to remove cookies and saved login sessions.

Internal app browsers

Banking, social media, and shopping apps may use their own in-app browser. Clearing Chrome data will not affect those. Open Android Settings > Apps, choose the app, then use its Storage options if needed.
