Chrome can send a browser tab to a Chromecast, Google TV, Cast-enabled smart TV, or supported speaker display without cables. As long as the computer and receiving device are on the same Wi-Fi network, you can cast videos, photo albums, web pages, or presentations from the browser.

Cast a tab from the toolbar menu
This is the most reliable place to start.
- Make sure the computer and TV, Chromecast, or Google TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Chrome tab you want to show.
- Click the three-dot menu.
- Choose Cast, save, and share, then Cast.
- Open Sources and select Cast tab.
- Choose your TV or Chromecast from the device list.
- To stop, click the cast icon in the address bar and choose Stop casting.
If the tab does not appear right away, wait a few seconds. Casting discovery and connection can take a moment.

Once you know the shortcut, this can be faster.
- Right-click an empty part of the web page.
- Choose Cast.
- Confirm Sources is set to Cast tab.
- Select the device from the list.

Fix a TV that does not appear
The usual cause is mismatched networks. Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi and not separated by a guest network. Restart Chrome and the Chromecast or TV app if discovery still fails.
Choose the right source
Cast tab sends only the current tab and is best for most web pages. Cast desktop mirrors the whole screen, including other apps, which helps for presentations. Cast file lets you pick a media file directly from the computer.
Reduce stutter
Casting a tab sends re-encoded video over Wi-Fi, so weak signal can cause lag. Move closer to the router or use the website native Cast button when available, such as on YouTube, because native casting streams directly to the TV.
