Samsung App Pair saves two apps together as one shortcut. Tap it once, and the two apps open side by side in Multi window instead of making you build the split screen every time.
These steps apply to Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets with One UI Multi window support.
Does This Affect You?
Use this if you repeatedly open the same two apps together, such as Messages and Notes, Calendar and Email, or YouTube and a browser.
Create an App Pair from Recent Apps
- Open the first app.
- Open Recent Apps and tap the app icon above its preview.
- Tap Open in split screen view.
- Choose the second app from the lower half of the screen.
- With both apps open, tap the small center handle between the two panes.
- Tap Add this combination to Apps screen.
- Name the pair if prompted, then tap Add, Done, or the matching save button.
Create an App Pair from the Home Screen
Some One UI versions also let you start from the widget menu.
- Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen.
- Tap Widgets.
- Find App pair.
- Touch and hold the widget and place it on the Home Screen.
- Choose the first and second apps.
- Select split screen or pop-up behavior if that choice appears.
- Tap Done.
Use, Edit, or Remove an App Pair
- Tap the App Pair icon to open both apps together instantly.
- The pair usually reopens with the split size close to how you last used it.
- Touch and hold the pair and choose Edit if your One UI version supports changing the apps.
- If Edit is not available, remove the shortcut and create a new pair.
- Touch and hold the pair and choose Remove from Home screen or Delete to remove only the shortcut. The two individual apps stay installed.
If an App Pair Will Not Open Correctly
Some apps do not support split-screen multitasking, especially certain games, banking apps, camera views, and full-screen video apps. If one side refuses to open or immediately expands full screen, the app is likely blocking Multi window.
