Android vibration can usually be adjusted separately for calls, notifications, and touch feedback. That means you can make incoming calls stronger while keeping keyboard taps subtle or off.
These steps apply to Android 12 and later on many Samsung, Pixel, Motorola, and similar phones. Older versions may offer only basic on/off vibration controls.
Does This Affect You?
Use this if vibration is too weak to notice, too strong, missing for some alerts, or annoying while typing.
Adjust Vibration Intensity
- Open Settings.
- Tap Sounds and vibration or Sound & vibration.
- Tap Vibration intensity, Vibration and haptic strength, or similar.
- Adjust sliders for Ring, Notification, and Touch feedback or Haptic feedback.
- Test the feel as you move the sliders. Changes apply immediately.
Fix Weak or Missing Vibration
- Remove thick cases that can muffle vibration.
- Check Do Not Disturb settings and exceptions.
- Turn off Battery Saver temporarily, because some phones reduce touch haptics while saving power.
- Confirm the main touch feedback or haptic feedback toggle is on.
- Raise the relevant slider instead of only checking ringtone volume.
Use Custom Vibration Patterns
- Open Settings > Sounds and vibration.
- Tap Vibration pattern if your phone offers it.
- Choose a built-in pattern such as basic, rapid, or heartbeat.
- On supported Samsung phones, create your own pattern by tapping a rhythm.
- For one person, open their contact details and assign a specific ringtone or vibration pattern if available.
Extra Vibration Notes
Haptics Are Separate
The buzz while typing or tapping buttons is haptic feedback. It is separate from call and notification vibration, so adjust the right slider.
Battery Impact Is Small
Vibration uses power, but touch feedback fires much more often than call vibration. Turn touch haptics down first if battery is the concern.
Apps Can Use Their Own Patterns
Games and messaging apps may define vibration behavior inside the app. Check app settings if only one app feels wrong.
Accessibility Adds More Options
Accessibility settings may include flash or vibration notification tools. These work alongside normal vibration controls.
