Reset Network Settings clears saved network configuration without deleting photos, apps, messages, or accounts. It is useful when Wi-Fi, cellular data, Bluetooth, VPN, or related connection settings keep misbehaving after normal restarts and reconnects.
This works on recent iOS versions and is independent of carrier.
Does This Affect You?
Use this if your iPhone keeps dropping Wi-Fi, refuses to pair Bluetooth devices, cannot hold cellular data, or has VPN/network settings that seem corrupted.
Reset Network Settings
- Open Settings.
- Tap General.
- Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
- Tap Reset.
- Choose Reset Network Settings.
- Enter your passcode and confirm. The iPhone restarts automatically.
This is not a factory reset. It targets network configuration only.
Reconnect After the Reset
- Open Settings > Wi-Fi and rejoin your Wi-Fi networks with their passwords.
- Pair Bluetooth accessories again under Settings > Bluetooth.
- Open your VPN app or VPN settings and sign in or re-add the configuration.
- Review Settings > Cellular for app-specific cellular access settings that may need to be turned back on.
What This Reset Does Not Fix
Router or Outage Problems
If every device in your home has Wi-Fi trouble, the router or internet provider is more likely than the iPhone.
Hardware Faults
If Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular still fails after the reset, a damaged antenna, SIM issue, or device hardware fault may need service.
Different Reset Options
Reset All Settings changes more system preferences without deleting data. Erase All Content and Settings is a full wipe. For connection problems, Reset Network Settings is the focused option.
