Calendar on Mac brings iCloud, Google, Outlook, Exchange, and other calendars into one app. Events can be color-coded by calendar, shared, invited, and synced across devices.
This guide applies to Calendar on recent macOS versions.
Does This Affect You?
Use Calendar if you want one place to add events, set alerts, invite people, and see personal and work schedules together.
Add and Manage Events
- Open Calendar from the Dock, Launchpad, or Spotlight.
- Double-click a date or time slot to create an event, or click the plus button and type a natural phrase such as Dentist 3pm Friday.
- Open the event details and adjust the title, location, start time, and end time.
- Add an alert so Calendar reminds you before the event.
- Add invitees by email address if others should attend.
- Click outside the event to save changes.
- Select an event and press Delete, or right-click and delete it, if you need to remove it.
Add Google, Outlook, or Other Calendars
- Open Calendar.
- Choose Calendar > Add Account.
- Select Google, Yahoo, Microsoft Exchange, or Other CalDAV Account.
- Sign in and approve permissions.
- Make sure Calendars is enabled for that account.
- Click Done and view the account’s calendars in the sidebar.
Calendar Tips
Show the Calendar List
Use View > Show Calendar List if the sidebar is hidden.
Switch Views Quickly
Use the Day, Week, Month, and Year buttons, or press Command + 1, Command + 2, Command + 3, or Command + 4.
Change Calendar Colors
Right-click a calendar in the sidebar and choose a color so events from different calendars are easier to distinguish.
Create Separate Calendars
Right-click an account in the sidebar and choose New Calendar for separate groups such as Work Travel, Family, School, or Bills.
Share or Subscribe
Right-click a calendar to share it with another person, or use File > New Calendar Subscription to add a read-only ICS calendar feed.
